Buccaneers Go West Coast to Help Freeman

Posted by Rick Stanton On July 6, 2010

The Bucs, under Jon Gruden, were able to master the dunk and dink. Last year, the organization tried to get vertical by hiring coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski. However before the season began they told him to get lost.

Greg Olson became the coordinator. However many of the same offensive principles stayed the same. This year they are reverting back to an approach that is more of a traditional West Coast one according to Tampa Tribune’s Roy Cummings.

It’s kind of a strange fit on paper for Josh Freeman, strong armed quarterback. However Freeman lacks accuracy on the deeper routes. Tampa Bay feels he’s better suited for the short, timing attack.

This offseason Freeman has received a lot of glowing praise due to his hard work and leadership. That is very important. For the Bucs what is even more important is to discover an offense which is compatible for Freeman and sticking to it.

The leadership of Freeman’s wasn’t doubted going into this year’s draft. The question was his accuracy.
